Guitar Pro App Reviews

Great app easily use

It must be understood that this app is only worth the money if you already have a license to guitar pro

couldnt be better!

!!!!

Good to have but could be better

I have been using Guitar Pro for years on my computer and was really excited when I saw there was an app for it. However this app is better for learning pre-existing guitar pro tabs or jotting down a quick riff. I wish it could write multiple tracks (including drums) so I can actually work on full songs. Being able to edit the pre-existing guitar pro tabs would be great too, but not as helpful as multi track writing. Still not bad and I use it all the time.

Not impressed

I bought this app so that I could use the music trainer with my itunes account accessed off my iPhone…hence the app for my iPhone??? Every time I try to connect it tells me that I must connect my phone to my computer which kind of defeats the purpose ?? If I wanted to buy guitar pro for my computer I would have. I bought it for my iPhone in app form and am unable to use it. Nice.

A good yet misunderstood tool.

Its a great app that allows you to import GPx files from your computer or the Internet. It has no built in songs and It can not analyze your songs, no program really can that effectively (though some are trying). It has a tabiture note pad that is somewhat helpful in composing files or jotting down solos but can only process one instrument at a time and it cant be drums. It does however have a decent sized instrument library so when you do find a GPx file of your song you can swap out instrument voices to a multitude of things. It would however be helpful to have a automatic transcribing tool to go from one tuning to another or say a 6 string bass to a 5 string bass (when possible).

Worth having but needs some major improvements

This is a great app to read and play back the guitar pro tab files that are scattered all over the internet. It also has a surprisingly nice interface for creating your own tab. It is also relatively easy to import tab directly from internet sites on the iPad. Why only 4 stars: 1) I cannot find a manual for the app. There is no built-in help and the Guitar Pro website just a few FAQ entries. The user interface is different enough from the desktop version that it really needs a manual plus built-in help. For example, I can add a measure, but I cannot figure out how to shift 2) You cannot edit tab that you import. You can only edit tab that you create in the apps notepad. This means you can’t correct or change tab on the fly, or inspect tab to see how they created a desired effect. 3) The features of the tab editor are just a subset of those on the desktop app. I suspect that this is to differentiate the products, but anyone serious about tabbing will buy both anyway. 4) As others have noted the sounds are not the same quality as the desktop version. There are also not enough sounds and it does not look like extra sound banks are available for the app. Overall though I think its worth the $7.00 I paid.

Ive always loved GuitarPro

I am a guitar mandolin bass piano drum violin trumpet and general all around music theory teacher and I have used Guitar Pro for about 10 years. I havent found anything better. And they update regularly. Very good program. The best.

Excellent

Used it for years. No complaints.

Great app for producing/learning music!

I really enjoy this app. There are lots of cool features and t is very detailed. One thing I would like to see very soon is being able to add multiple tracks/instruments to a song you make. This would make the app from great to excellent!

Latest version crashes on startup.

Ive been using guitar pro as part of my recording process for years now. Unfortunately today, I made the mistake of updating to the latest version, only to find it completely unusable. Even after restarting and reinstalling, the app wont even launch. If youre already using GP, dont update. And if youre considering buying it, dont pay until they release a stable version.

Very very nice

Would love to see implementation with iCloud

The app is great, the best for learning new songs, but it would be awesome If i could have the tabs syncronized between devices, and add new ones from iCloud Drive
