This is a great app to read and play back the guitar pro tab files that are scattered all over the internet. It also has a surprisingly nice interface for creating your own tab. It is also relatively easy to import tab directly from internet sites on the iPad. Why only 4 stars: 1) I cannot find a manual for the app. There is no built-in help and the Guitar Pro website just a few FAQ entries. The user interface is different enough from the desktop version that it really needs a manual plus built-in help. For example, I can add a measure, but I cannot figure out how to shift 2) You cannot edit tab that you import. You can only edit tab that you create in the apps notepad. This means you can’t correct or change tab on the fly, or inspect tab to see how they created a desired effect. 3) The features of the tab editor are just a subset of those on the desktop app. I suspect that this is to differentiate the products, but anyone serious about tabbing will buy both anyway. 4) As others have noted the sounds are not the same quality as the desktop version. There are also not enough sounds and it does not look like extra sound banks are available for the app.
Overall though I think its worth the $7.00 I paid.
