Would recommend

While it is not perfect the convenience being able to access my song files out weighs the disadvantages. Not to mention the fact that the app is only like eight bucks compared to the seventy for the pc version. That being said the seventy bucks for the pc version is well worth it since it is a much smoother and improved experience.

I couldn’t really use it.

I recently got a full desktop license for guitar pro and a paid subscription to songsterr to download my songs and take them on the go in guitar pro when I can’t be connected to the internet. But all of my files that work on desktop don’t work here. It seems like the app is trying to file the tabs not by filename (I always put ‘,The’ for artist names)but by the artist/songname metadata that you can add to it, the same stuff that appears at the top of the tab page. So I’d have to add that and save them all and then transfer them to my icloud again. But I don’t have time to add all of that, I transfered a lot of tabs to my icloud and even saved them to my local storage because the app doesn’t really read them from your cloud, which is fine because while I’d do that for a test, the best way is to have them locally saved to use offline. I’d say the desktop app works fine but this one, I can’t say because none of my tabs work, including some cool new ones that I made myself by modifying existing ones. The app probably does what it’s supposed to do when it works… but I wouldn’t know! When I go the artist section, I can see my custom tabs I’ve added as ]]>!CDATA[Nirvana ,for example… and then it says “file corrupted!” Also both versions need a dark mode for the actual tab sheets. Sometimes I’m okay with blinding myself at 2am but my pets are sleeping next to me, etc. Other similar platforms have long implemented this, and it is long overdue.

Please fix bugs and add more UI features for better display, search, etc.

Missing many critical features to make ease of use tolerable. Favorites often crashes app when I try to favorite a song, or the star does not denote that it has been favorited. Many bugs there. Should support using iCloud so you can have app on multiple devices and have any changes made sync to all devices via iCloud. Should be able to make (multiple) Playlists of desired songs. Would be nice to have a “Songs by Artist” display, Recently Added display, Recently Opened display. The entire method to view or search for songs could be greatly improved. Older apps (Tab Toolkit) have easier ways to quickly find and display songs even though their widgets have not been updated. Guitar Pro is newer but lacks so many things to make it the premier Tablature player. Please do some development on this product as it currently so annoying I still use Tab Toolkit as a first choice.

Export As MP3 Is Needed

Excellent app but I can’t find export as mp3.

Doesn’t work

Every time I try to add a gp file, the app (the PAID app) tells me it’s a corrupted file.

The additional features I would like to see

Thank you for providing such a useful tool. I use bass tablature for my videos and there are a few additional features I'd like to see: The ability to write chord symbols on the tablature. It would also be great to have the ability to write text, not just chords. Sometimes I want to write things like 'Ionian Scale.' A feature that plays the chords. The ability to easily transpose the entire tablature. There is something I would like you to fix. When entering and playing back bass tablature, if I select the “Vertical” tab view, the tablature sometimes extends beyond the screen and becomes unreadable. Please fix this issue.

Crashes

With new iPad 18.3 update program crashes continuously when opening

good app just needs some improvements and added features

i use this app everyday for my song writing. its a great app for musicians to write down their ideas fast. however i will say that i wish there were some added features… i will list them below. - slider for the tempo is a little weird cause its not exact. just wish it would count regularly. for example if i write a song at 150 bpm, the slider only lets me choose between 148 and 152. - i wish there was an option to change time signatures for certain measures. - i wish there was an option the change the tempo for certain measures/parts. - the tones are ok but not the best. i wish they will update/fix them. overall, its a great app for musicians. like i said i use it everyday and it’s very useful.

does not include some promised features

the score settings in this app (iphone for me) doesn’t have the display size options, chords/diagrams, nor the fretboard/keyboard as advertised. there’s also no measure repeat feature. i cannot say this is worth $7—which is the equivalent to me making pizzas at work for 45 minutes. would i make pizzas at work for 45 minutes for this app? not really. anyways, it does the minimal for jotting ideas AFK, but it’s not well-equipped enough to allow me to lay in bed and compose on my phone instead of at my desk. i’m sad to see that the latest update was two years ago ( ͡° ʖ̯ ͡°)

LOVE it

I can now practice my part in our choir, and add in the other voices as I become stronger with my own. LOVE this.

iPad version of GP is soooo amateur

I love Guitar pro and all its functionality, well that is the desktop version but this mobile version is soooo amateur, soo limited and really needs a facelift! I really hope a new revolutionary update come soon because would bet Great to have at least a fraction of the functionality that the desktop version has

Trash app

Can’t even load your own songs app is trash

Love it

Love it 🤘🏾

Notepad is awesome!

It's a cool app to tab and share riffs and ideas! 1 track is sufficient for notepad. I can use the desktop app for larger arrangements.

For iPad version

I can’t add text chords “Am7 A7 Gbm A” in notepad. I have TEFpad in my iPad and it’s great, I love it, and I can add chords diagram.

Cannot play audio tracks

The app is missing the ability to play audio tracks saved in your files. That’s critical functionality missing IMO.

Utterly useless. What a waste of an app.

This app, as opposed to the PC app, is a nightmare to use. Just go ahead and try to put an idea down quickly, two hours later you’ll still be trying to get the second bar put in correctly. It is incomplete. You’ll go on a wild goose chase trying to find the vibrato at the top of a bend. You make a mistake on that bar chord and want to change that 5th to a 6th? Forget it! You havre to delete the whole thing. Put in an extra beat and want to remove it? Sorry, bub, you’re going to have to keep that extra rest after you try to delete those notes. My question to Arobas is this: Why doesn’t this app have the same functionality that the PC app does? iPad is a super powerful tool that just BEGS for full functionality in an app like this. So much potential…wasted. This app is so difficult and so annoying to use that it makes you wonder why they even put it out at all! You’ll be so frustrated after using this app that even looking at the icon will make you want to throw your iPad through the wall.

Needs better edit and notepad functionality

As a practice tool, this app is well worth the money. However, I think the app name being the same as the monstrously powerful and useful tool for the desktop is grounds for false advertising. I bought this expecting to be able to edit my work on the go, and make changes to songs that people send me (often people have asked for suggestions or if I would be willing to collaborate) and you can make no edits to files unless they are created on the current device via the notepad. Even the ability to copy from a file and paste to the notepad would be a GIGANTIC improvement. I feel I’ve wasted my money on this app as it does very little of what I want out of guitar pro, and having bought every desktop version since 5 and seeing no further development of the mobile version, I am severely disappointed. I gave the app 3 stars because what it does is offer a nice practice tool for songs that do not exist on Ultimate Guitar. HOWEVER, if the song does exist on Ultimate Guitar, that practice platform far exceeds this one.

Program Developers: WAKE UP

I have been able to professionally edit photos on my iPad for YEARS. I have been able to professionally edit video on my iPad for YEARS. I have been able to create professional digital illustrations on my iPad for YEARS. I can even record audio professionally on my iPad. Can I edit a GuitarPro tab? NO! WHY NOT???

Please Migrate Guitar Pro 8 to Mobile.

After using Guitar Pro 8 for desktop, I’d love seamless editing and composition on the go. The two are disjointed, and the mobile support is two years old; lacks many features.

Please bring RSE to mobile version! Modern phones can handle it!

Otherwise, it’s alright 🤷‍♂️ cool I can view gp files on the go

Misleading

First of all…I have never felt the need to write a review for a single product in my life. Today is the day. No mention anywhere of the need to have a subscription to gain access to guitar tabs. Tiny library of options at that. I would like a refund for the purchase price of the app because I will never pay for a monthly subscription and I would never have bought the app had I known it was necessary. Further, there is nowhere (that I can find) on the website to contact the app developers directly. Highly disappointing.

Transposition Problems

I’m trying to use this app as a simple reader for my desktop version of GP8 and it automatically untransposes Sax lines. It’s useless for what would be one of the best features of this companion app.

Never loads .gp files

I'm trying to open .gp files I downloaded online but it just has the spinning wheel for forever and never loads.

Abandoned?

This app has not been updated in over a year with important features from desktop still missing (e.g. any song with a backing track will not load even from MySongbook). Save your money; This app will disappoint you.

Good could be gooder

Agree with others that an editor should be added.

COULD BE SO MUCH MORE! Where is an autoscroll??

Seems like its a wasted potential this app. Instead of giving features you charge for a basic reader of GP8 files. When you can buy much better songbook type app/software and basically export the song into it. Even the fact that you can’t organize the files/songs as you want, makes this pretty lacking to say the least. —Group songs into sets or personalized groupings? Not possible —Update a song on the fly? Not possible —Add backing tracks or change the type of instrument used for the track? Also not possible. —Turn off instruments and just play metronome? Not possible —AUTOSCROLL?? Wow this is the strangest missing feature. The fact their software also doesn’t work with anyone’s pedal is really a bad decision! —Change the tab to a song or even revise an existing song you wrote or made up? Nope not possible, something that is a basic feature of GP8. For the price of this app, unfortunately it is seriously lacking in features that are available on pretty much every other app here.

Doesn’t make any sound

Some files work, some have no sound.

Poor file handling

As a tab viewer, this app needs to interact with other computers and storage locations such as iCloud. On this front app gets an F. The app needs to copy files into local storage on the iPad. A better way is to integrate directly with the iOS Files app and read the tabs directly from Files. It also never remembers the last location from which you loaded a tab, meaning it’s multiple clicks every time you want to load a new tab from iCloud. When you use the NotePad function to create a tab, the only way to get it back to your computer for further editing is to email it to yourself!!

Playback issues

The playback has issues with tempo accuracy and if there are parts with space in your song you’ll lose the first bit of the note. Very distracting, and very disappointing.

This is an essential tool for beginners.

I love this program on all platforms; I wouldn’t be the musician I am without it because I’ve learned to use it to really push the boundaries on my writing styles. I’m sure most metal musicians can relate to what I’m saying here! This is something great for a beginner to get locked in on with learning and, as well, composing their own material.

Best app for learning

I love learning on this app it is so helpful

Fine for practicing only

I’m disappointed that you can’t use this app as an editor like the PC version. I would pay probably $30 for a decent editor version of Guitar Pro on my iPad.

Pretty good, honestly

I’ve read a lot of bad reviews so I want to say something nice about this app. I can write a lot of stuff with the options in this app. At first I didn’t know there was a hidden menu for dotted notes. That made me really mad until I discovered this menu. Since I use a lot of dotted notes in my stuff this is greatly handy to me. Is the sound quality the best? No but you can at least show yourself and your friends your music with some idea of what it’s supposed to sound like. Also i don’t need multiple tracks if I can import into gp8 which I can and I do. Would I like to see more editing features? Sure. But for the small amount of money I paid for this app I am pleasantly satisfied. Also it’s great for the my song book subscription and learning new songs on an actual guitar too!

Great learning tool.

Sorry, sort of busy practicing now on Guitar Pro. I am a 63 year old beginner and this is what my instructor is using as a teaching method. This App is very useful. Well, i’m wasting time. Gotta go. Great app.

When is the editor update coming to GP?

I am an old user of GP app and still love it, but I am already looking for an alternative app that would let me edit arrangements on my iPad. Most musicians nowadays do their creative work in the move, so it is very convenient to have an arrangement tool at hand. I hope GP engineers consider this suggestion. Thank you.

Wish there was more to it!

While I absolutely love this app, and it helps me write ideas down and write parts out for my band mates, I wish there were more tools/options for writing. I understand it’s a mobile app at a fraction of the price of the full computer program, there are simple things I wish would be added, such as; -multiple parts (maybe just do a limited amount? Limit to 2-4 parts in the mobile version?) -Tempo/time signature changes mid song These are the two big ones for me personally. And if there is a way to do this, I’d love to know, and I will gladly update the review! But I’ve looked so hard through the app and can’t find any way to do these things.

Requires subscription, low quality tabs

I thought being a paid app you’d have access to at least some useful features but no. To access even a single tab of music you need a subscription. Well I paid for a subscription and the tabs are low quality. Not impressed at all, there are better quality products out there.

Terrible

Spent money on this app only for it not to work on my phone. Where do I get my refund?

Fine for practice on the go but almost useless for writing

I’ve been using Guitar Pro on my PC for code to ten years and it has become an integral part of my writing. When I saw there was a version of IOS I was very happy thinking that I could actually work on music away from the house. Well, I was sure disappointed to find out here is no edting feature to the files themselves and that th only editing you can do is in a severely crippled note section. I can us another tablature editing app, but then there isn’t a seamless transition between the full function Computer app and the phone/tablet version. I would gladly pay triple to get full editing capability. I don’t need the sound fonts. But come on Arobos, give us editing capability. Like I said, I would pay do it no problem.

Small Feature Request for mixWithOthers

Can you please enable AVAudioSessionCategoryOptionMixWithOthers, so that user can play the tab while watching other video source? This makes huge sense on iPads with the stage manager feature. Thanks

My iPad is more powerful than my laptop

If Apple can bring almost full versions of Logic and FCP to the iPad why can’t we get a full version of this on the iPad. Would gladly pay an upgrade fee to get it. If you don’t know how, hire someone. Can’t be THAT hard to move it over from Mac to iPad can it?

Yikes! Why does this cost money?

The subscription is crazy lacking in available songs. What a rip off…

Not useful without multi-track editing

There shouldn’t be this arbitrary limitation with how strong iPads have come over the years, but here we are. If this supported multi-track editing it would be perfect.

3.5 would be a little closer than 4 stars, but…

It’s pretty good for $7. I have used the full mac version which has a LOT more features, so it leaves one just a bit cold to fall back to this bare-bones version. You can create a new score, but as far as I can tell, there’s no way to edit an existing one. While GP leaves a lot to be desired, that’s really only in comparison to itself. It’s better than any other iPad tab player that I’ve seen to date, and there are NO IN APP PURCHASES or sleazy subscription schemes. LET’S KEEP IT THAT WAY! Also, did I mention that it’s only $7?

Disappointed

I really like guitar pro on PC. But this is awful. I’ve used it for maybe half an hour and already found significant frustration with the bugginess and lack of intuition. First problem was after playback, if you go to edit, sometimes the cursor will keep snapping back to the end. Thought maybe hitting the pause button would fix it, but it requires a restart. Second one is that you can’t edit the tempo or any other details of a track once you create it. That’s terrible. And lastly, it straight up deleted the first note on me of a file, and when I went to go add it back it, instead of it auto correcting the measure, I now had all sorts of messed up disconnected 16th notes on the bar. Now I’m running it on an IPHONE se 2nd gen, I’m willing to bet the experience on other devices may be less buggy, but I’m honestly real upset I bought this.

It’s okay just needs more features

It’s an okay app just needs more features and the ability to download it on the Apple TV

BUGS

App with major bugs, looks like was made by amateurs programmers , what a shame

Doesn't work

This app doesn't work right with the current iOS operating system. Don't waste your money.
